内容記述 | Organic compounds containing carbon-metal bonds are called organometallic compounds. Such compounds have been known and studied since the 19 century and have been widely used to influence synthetic transformation in modern organic chemistry. It is suggested that many educational benefits could result from the use of reaction types and discoveries for undergraduates and graduate classes in organic and organometallic chemistry. Organometallic reactions are categorized into several types of metathesis reactions, depending on the combination of σ- and π-bonds, such as σ-σ bond, σ-π bond, and π-π bond metathesis. This article is organized into cycloaddition reactions and thereafter, reactions of which consist of σ-π bond metathesis, i.e., oxidative insertion of π-bond into a metallacyclopentadiene complex as an intermediate. In 1948, Ni-catalyzed cyclooligomerization of acetylene to benzene as well as cyclotetraene (COT) was first reported by Reppe of BASF. The theoretician proposed the cyclobuadiene complex to be a stable intermediate in these reactions. However subsequent studies revealed that instead of the cyclobutadiene complex, a cyclopentadiene complex is intermediate for the Reppe reaction. Cyclobutadiene and cyclopentadiene complexes will be also discussed in relation to 4 π antiaromaticity as the well as synthetic [2+2+2] cycloadiition reaction. | |||||
