| 内容記述 | 近年の米騒動研究では、一九一八（大正七）年の騒動の発端として中新川郡東水橋町（現・富山市）が挙げられることも少なくない。それは、松井滋次郎や井本三夫らによる聞き取り調査の成果やそれをふまえた研究によるものである。だが、東水橋町の米騒動の経過については、井本の研究への疑問も出されてきた。また、松井・井本の主要な関心が、東水橋町の騒動が米騒動の発端だった事実を確認することにあったためか、体験者らの語りには、歴史的な検討の余地を残しているものもみられる。本稿では、八月四日以降の東水橋町における米騒動の展開過程を検討するとともに、それらをふまえて騒動体験者の語りを歴史的に位置づけることを試みた。八月四日から六日にかけての騒動については、騒動体験者の語りや関係する文献史料をつき合わせることで、騒動の展開過程を明らかにした。また、そうした展開過程をふまえて、語り手一人ひとりにとって、東水橋町の米騒動がどのような体験だったのかも検証している。あるひとりの騒動参加者にとっては、女性仲仕の仕事や家事労働後の夜分、「親方」に率いられて集団要求に日参し、米商高松の譲歩を引き出した体験こそが、米騒動であった。また別の参加者にとっての米騒動は、地縁による強制で参加したにも関わらず、日常意識の顚倒によって思いがけない高揚感を味わった体験だった。他方、騒動勢が押し寄せた米商の関係者にとっては、そうした日常意識の顚倒のもたらした不安と恐怖こそが米騒動に他ならなかった。こうした体験の多元性は、米騒動の歴史像をより豊かにしてくれるはずである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | According to research on rice riots in recent years, Higashimizuhashi-machi, Nakaniikawa-gun (present-day Toyama City) is often cited as the place that started the riots in 1918. This is based on the results of interviews conducted by Shigejiro MATSUI, Mitsuo IMOTO and others, as well as research stemming from those interviews. However, Imoto’s research has been questioned with regard to the progress of the rice riots in Higashimizuhashi-machi. Also, perhaps because Matsui and Imoto were mainly interested in confirming the fact that the riots in Higashimizuhashi-machi were the beginning of the rice riots, some of the stories told by those who experienced the riots leave room for historical examination. This paper investigates the progress of the rice riots as they developed in Higashimizuhashi-machi from August 4 and attempts to position the narratives by people who experienced the riots historically based on the progression. Regarding the riots between August 4 and 6, I have clarified the progression of the riot by comparing the stories of people who experienced the riot and related historical documents. Based on the process of development, it also examines what kind of experience the rice riots in Higashimizuhashi-machi had for each narrator. For one of the participants in the riot, the rice riot was the experience of being led by ‘Oyakata’ (stablemaster) to attend to the group’s demands every night to extract concessions from Takamatsu, a rice merchant because she is a dockworker and homeworker during the day. For another participant, the rice riots were an experience of unexpected euphoria due to the break away from daily consciousness in spite of participating as a result of local compulsion. On the other hand, for the people involved on the side of the rice merchants who were rocked by the riots, the same break away from the daily consciousness brought about anxiety and fear only the rice riots could bring. This diversity of experience should enrich the historical picture of the rice riots. | |||||
