内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In terms of systematic health management, serious health issues caused by poor stress management of teachers in early childhood education (ECE)centres in New Zealand(NZ), is strongly highlighted. Research was conducted using questionnaires with ECE teachers in child centres. These teachers are considered as being representatives of ECE professionals in child care in NZ because child centres dominate the sector and the number of such centres in NZ is still increasing. Because the policy of the owners of child centres is the pursuit of profit, caregivers are unable to provide adequate care/education for children. ECE teachers can neither establish good and reliable relationships with management, nor are they even able to communicate with their colleagues. Instead, they have to work at night at home or on the weekends without pay because of excessive workload and duties. They cannot make suggestions regarding improving service to the children because such suggestions often conflict with the managementʼs pursuit of profit and they are afraid of losing their jobs. It is for those reasons that the stress that ECE teachers are suffering is increasing, becoming more serious and even going out of control. ECE teachers are being regarded as mere tools of business and their expertise as just a generator of profit. We conclude that such a situation is the cause of the current ECE teachersʼ health issues in New Zealand.
