Different people have different values. We need to learn culture of other countries and try to understand other people’s sense of values and the evaluating concepts of communicative behavior if we want to make good relationship with others coming from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This research tries to clarify one part of the features of the evaluating concepts “consideration for” of communicative behavior in a present-day Japanese and Chinese society empirically. This is done by comparing evaluating words of communicative behavior collected from People’s Daily, supplemented with thesaurus and some present-day Chinese dictionaries, with the corresponding related vocabulary of Japanese from some present-day Japanese dictionaries. Politeness Grammar submitted by Nam et al (2006)is used for this contrastive semantic analysis.
