By analyzing the meteorological data obtained from the local weather forecast, this paper intends to explore the “wind strength” which is supposed to be the source of the meaning “blast of wind” given by the second element of the place-name blow. In order to carry out the contrastive comparison with Cold Blow, Folkestone was selected, because the city is located on the coastal level plain in the vicinity.
