| 内容記述 | 本研究は従来知られていなかった「横浜真景一覧図絵」の初版を通じて、本図の位置づけを試みるものである。本図は明治前期の横浜について多くの情報を含む絵図として従来高い評価を寄せられてきたものであるが、このたび筆者が発見した版をもとにした比較・検討より以下のことを明らかにした。 本図には複数の版が存在するが、各版の相違を通じた考証から、①初版・②91年A版・③91年B版・④92年版・⑤01年版・⑥02年版の順で刊行されたものであることが分かった。そして、今回発見された版である①はこれまで知られていた本図に先行して通行していたものであり、この版に内容を増補して成立したものが②～⑥の各版である。 次に増補を行った理由について検討を行ったが、それは明治20年代における関外地域の急速な発展に求められる。地図が増補された地域は、1890年代の状況として以下の特徴が見られた。すなわち、劇場や見世物・遊郭などの施設が設けられ、これらが人々を引きづける誘因となって、その街並みに急速な発展が生じていた。本図は作者にとって集大成と位置付けられる作品であったが、このように発展著しい地域を欠いたまま地図を出版することは見過ごせないことであることから、地図の増補が行われたものと考える。 以上の検討結果より次のことが導き出せる。まず、①との比較より、②以降の地図が当時の横浜をめぐる状況を強く反映させたものと位置づけることが可能となった。すなわち、増補という行為には、横浜の急激な発展に対する当時の人々の意識が反映されている。その点を踏まえると、図の増補がもたらす影響は単に記載された情報の増加にとどまるだけではないことが分かる。そこには増補の背後にある社会の変容や人々の意識が反映されていることから、地図の増補はそれらを見通すための有力な非文字資料にもなっていると言える。 |

| 内容記述 | This study attempts to place the first edition of ‶Yokohama Shinkei Ichiran Zue" by Tomigoro Ozaki, which was previously unknown, in the context of this study. This map has been highly evaluated as the map containing a great deal of information on Yokohama in the Meiji period, but a comparison and examination of the maps based on the first edition discovered by the author have revealed the following. Although there are multiple editions of this map, it was found through the differences in the editions that they were published in the following order :（1） First edition,（2） 1891 A edition,（3) 1891 B edition,（4） 1892 edition,（5） 1901 edition and（6） 1902 edition. The edition discovered in this study,（1）, preceded the previously known edition of this map, and the editions（2） through （6） were established by supplementing the contents of the first edition. Next, I examined the reasons for the enlargement, which were sought in the rapid development of the Kangai region in the 1890s. The area where the maps were enlarged showed the following characteristics of the situation in the 1890s : Theaters, freak shows, and amusement centers were established, and these brought people to the city. As a result, the streets of the Kangai region experienced rapid development. This map was a compilation of the authorʼs work, therefore it would have been unforgivable to publish the map for Ozaki without such a rapidly developing area. The following can be derived from the above discussion. First, from the comparison with（1）, it is possible to position the maps after（2） as those that strongly reflect the situation surrounding Yokohama. In other words, the act of enlargement reflects the peopleʼs awareness of the rapid development of the Kangai region at that time. In light of this point, it is clear that the impact of the map enlargement was not limited to a simple increase in the amount of information provided. The map enlargement also serves as a powerful nonwritten source for understanding the social transformations and peopleʼs awareness behind the map enlargement. |
