| 内容記述 | 本稿は、ブラジルを代表する文化であるサンバ・カーニバルにおいて、サンバ（Samba）を実践する団体であるエスコーラ・ジ・サンバ（Escola de Samba、以下エスコーラ）の旗に象徴として描かれた楽器とサンバ音楽の関連を明らかにすることを目的とする。エスコーラの旗は、その団体内外へ向けて団体の権威を示すために用いる。その旗の象徴には楽器・動物・人物・王冠などが描かれている。エスコーラはそれぞれの団体の象徴を描いた旗を持ち、その活動の中で使用している。従来の研究では、旗の権威と旗に伴う踊りの意味について明らかにされてきた。しかし、旗そのものに注目してそこに描かれた象徴を取り扱った研究はない。そこで本稿では、エスコーラの旗に描かれた楽器を分析し、エスコーラのサンバを視覚的に表現する象徴と、パレードにおいて大多数の参加者で行うサンバの表現を一致させる音楽のリズムとの関連について考察した。分析対象としたのはサンパウロ市とリオ・デ・ジャネイロ市の全てのエスコーラである。まずブラジルにおけるカーニバル史を概観することでエスコーラが歩んできた社会的背景を提示し、エスコーラの旗に描かれた象徴と、それが描かれている旗の役割について述べた。これらの前提を基に、エスコーラの旗に象徴として描かれた楽器とエスコーラの音楽との関連について考察を行った。その結果、エスコーラとポップスとしてのサンバ音楽それぞれを印象付ける楽器が見られ、両市に異なる傾向があることが明らかになった。カーニバル・パレードで配置義務を課せられた打楽器を描いた象徴は両市のエスコーラに同様の割合で見られるが、ポピュラー音楽としてのサンバを想起させる楽器については、リオのエスコーラの過半数が象徴のデザインとして採用していた。分析と考察の結果、エスコーラの象徴全体に見られる傾向とエスコーラの音楽の要素に関連が認められた。エスコーラの旗に描かれた楽器という要素を統合して考察した結果、それらはエスコーラの音楽の記号となる象徴の集合を構成していることが明らかになった。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper aims to elucidate the relationship between the instruments depicted as symbols on the flags of Escola de Samba（ESCOLA）, which are groups that practice Samba in Brasilʼs iconic cultural event, the Samba Carnival, and Samba music. The flags of ESCOLAS are used to signify the authority of the group both internally and externally. These flags feature symbols such as musical instruments, animals, people, and crowns. Each ESCOLA possesses a flag adorned with its unique symbols, which is used during their activities. Previous studies have clarified the authority of the flags and the meaning of the dances associated with them. However, there has been no research focusing on the symbols depicted on the flags themselves. Therefore, this paper analyses the instruments illustrated on the flags of ESCOLAS and explores the relationship between these symbols, which visually represent Samba of ESCOLA, and the musical rhythms that align with the mass participation in Samba during the parades. The subjects of this analysis are all the ESCIOLAS in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. First, by providing an overview of the history of Carnival in Brazil, the social background of the ESCOLAS is presented, followed by a description of the symbols on the flags and their roles. Based on these premises, the study investigates the relationship between the instruments depicted as symbols on the flags of ESCOLAS and their music. The findings reveal distinct instruments that characterise both the ESCOLA grope of two cites and Samba music as a popular genre, with differing tendencies between the two cities. Symbols featuring percussion instruments, which are mandatory in Carnival parades, are seen in similar proportions in ESCOLAS of both cities. However, instruments that evoke popular Samba music are predominantly adopted as symbolic designs by the majority of Rioʼs ESCOLAS. The analysis and discussion indicate a correlation between the overall tendencies in the symbols seen in ESCOLAS and the elements of their music. The integrated examination of the instruments depicted on the flags revealed that these symbols collectively constitute a set of icons representing the music of the ESCOLAS. | |||||||||
