In previous studies, “Midori no Yubi” has been regarded as “a story of the protagonistʼs growth ［as］ triggered by the death of her grandmother.” However, this understanding overlooks the storyʼs various expressive devices or contrivances. Therefore, this paper has attempted to reread and present “Midori no Yubi” as a text.\n　Chapter 1 presents the problematic concerns mentioned above after reviewing previous studies. The paper then analyzes the temporal structure of the text in Chapter 2 and decodes the relationship between the grandmother and the protagonist through the plants present in Chapter 3.
