Three types of water masses are often observed in this area: brackish, coastal, and open ocean water masses, but coastal and open ocean water masses were not clearly distinguished in the homogeneous water mass in this season, where water temperatures were generally at least 1 ℃ lower. Vertical mixing estimated in homogeneous water masses averaged the distribution of algal biomass. Species diversity and biomass by chlorophyll a concentration observed in the homogeneous water mass were significantly lower than in 2019 and 2021.
