Voice of Void is a moving image installation using virtual reality(VR)and animation, featuring the Kyoto School―a group of intellectuals from Kyoto Imperial University, led by Kitaro Nishida (1870-1945) and Hajime Tanabe(1885-1962). The work is also an attempt to bring to the forefront a wide range of texts, published by the Kyoto School intellectuals during the 1930’s and 1940’s. I have also introduced the spatial composition of Voice of Void, which consists of four rooms. Chapter 2 of this paper scrutinizes the exhibition reviews of Voice of Void―identifying its characteristics, organizing the evaluations, and discussing the meaning of the work. Such detailed analysis confirms that Voice of Void has been critiqued from multiple perspectives and presents a polysemic assessment of the Kyoto School.
