This poem is not an ordinary biography of Alexander the Great, because the story is interrupted by many diverse episodes such as those of the Trojan war which took place about 1200 years B.C. according to historians, and those of the Old Testsament. Alexander the Great is a personage of the fourth century B.C. and this poem is written in the thirteenth century A.D.
