The patriarchal society in those days imposed on women the three virtues -obedience, silence, and chastity-in order to preserve the social order. The basis of this idea was that because of their inferiority women should be governed by men. However, humanistic education, which English humanists like Thomas More advocated, was given not only to boys but also to girls in the noble families, so that girls could be good wives and good mothers. Following More's ideas, Juan Luis Vives tutored Mary I to respect the three virtues, especially silence. On the other hand Elizabeth I was instructed by Roger Ascham, who encouraged her to master eloquence, not to be silent. Thanks to her oratory skills, Elizabeth could deliver elaborate public speeches and successfully created a unique androgynous image among the people, thereby controlling her male subjects and the country. Her androgynous quality is mirrored in the women in Shakespeare's plays who disguise themselves in male attire, such as Rosalind in As You Like it and Viola in Twelfth Night. Disguise provides the heroines with eloquence, activeness, determination, and self-reliance.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_3_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"神奈川大学","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"The Society of Humanities at Kanagawa University","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_3_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00123041","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_3_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0287-7074","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_3_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"濱田, あやの","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ハマダ, アヤノ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"33213","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2018-11-28"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"kana-10-19-0004.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"9.6 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"kana-10-19-0004.pdf","url":"https://kanagawa-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/12286/files/kana-10-19-0004.pdf"},"version_id":"e566588e-9ed5-4fdf-a403-b66e4eb2e7fe"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"エリザベス女王の時代を生きた女性たち : 現実と虚構のはざまで","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"エリザベス女王の時代を生きた女性たち : 現実と虚構のはざまで","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Women and the Gender Boundary in the Elizabethan England","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"3","owner":"10","path":["1197"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2009-03-13"},"publish_date":"2009-03-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"12286","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["エリザベス女王の時代を生きた女性たち : 現実と虚構のはざまで"],"weko_creator_id":"10","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-11-29T00:03:03.483637+00:00"}
