In generally, so-called "foreigner" have been classified by one's nationality. But, in reality, boundaries between so-called "Japanese" and so-called "foreigner" have been made by "culture". Intercultural education has been focusing into "inter-action" between so-called "Japanese" and others. The purposes of this paper are below: (1) overviewing "intercultural education" in Japan (2) considering the possibility of "identity" studies in intercultural education (3) showing a relationship between concept of "self-process-cycle" and intercultural education Intercultural education had been developing about "Returnees (children returning from living overseas)" in 80's-90's. After that, target of intercultural education was spreading over international students, ethnic minority students and children of migrant workers. "Identity" studies in intercultural education is important as microlevel-studies.
