<dc:description>A long-standing discussion among management scholars concern “double hurdles” of scholarly rigor and relevance. Following mode 2 approach which was suggested by M. Gibbons and his colleagues, the scholars have discussed possibilities of more collaborative knowledge creation between practitioners and academics. However, there are limited papers that examined a case of “mode 2” research projects. In order to contribute to the discussion, this paper aims at illustration of a typical research project which adapted mode 2 approach. I collect data through a two-year ethnographic fieldwork in a management research project in Finland, and I extract two kinds of challenges that management researchers faced in the project. Discussing these challenges with existing literature, I put suggestions toward future discussion about “mode 2 ” management research.</dc:description>
