| 内容記述 | In the 1530s, the Church of England was separated from Roman Catholic Christendom by religious legislation in the Reformation Parliament realising King Henry VIIIʼs divorce, while Wales was united to the Kingdom of England by the so-called Acts of Union. Then the newly established Church of England introduced its new church policy into the new dominion of this kingdom, i.e. Wales. In previous researches, it has generally been believed that Welsh society steadily accepted Protestantism which was introduced by the Church of England. But now, it is questioned that what was the stead Protestantisation of Wales, and why it happened. To investigate the subject above, this article takes up the Council in the Marches of Wales, which was the delegate of the English crown in Wales. The predecessor governing body of the council of Wales was created in the late 15th century, but it was established and reinforced in the Reformation era. How the council of Wales functioned as a driving force of introducing Protestantism into Welsh society or not will be consideredin this paper. In addition, each religious activity of the council of Wales for its territory will be analysed. | |||||
