In this paper, we consider the particle alternation of reul-case to ga-case in ‘-go shipda’ construction of modern Korean. ‘-go shipda’ is the unique auxiliary adjective related with the particle alternation. We gathered 730 ‘-go shipda’ usages from the novels awarded the Lee Sang Literature Award for ten years (2006-2015). We picked up 25 transitive verbs that show the alternation from reul to ga. This phenomenon could be seen from mainly eight verbs, for example see, eat, drink etc. We realized that these verbs were not a large number in the particle alternation of reul to ga. There are syntactic constraints in this particle alternation of ‘-go shipda’ construction. It seems that this particle alternation of reul to ga in ‘-go shipda’ construction is more “lexical” in some verbs than “syntactic.” The particle alternation of reul to ga in ‘-go shipda’ construction is not as productive as we expected, and the ga-case is a marked expression.
